Abstract

A new triazene reagent,p-sulphonamidobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene(p-SADAA),was synthesized, and its color reaction with cadmium was studied. In pH 11.26 NH 4Cl-NH 3·H 2O buffer solution with the presence of nonionic surfactant OP,p-SADAA reacts with cadmium to form a 3∶1 stable complex with the maximum absorption wavelength of 510nm,and apparent molar absorptivity of 1.23×10 5L·mol -1·cm -1.Beer's law is obeyed for cadmium in the range of 0—10.67μg/25mL.The method was applied to the determination of trace cadmium in industrial wastewater with satisfactory results.
