Abstract

The color reaction of new reagent pchlorobenzenediazoaminoazobenzene (pCBDAA) with cadmium has been studied. The results show that in the presence of TritonX100 and pH10.0 borax buffer solution, the pCBDAA reacts with cadmium to form an orange stable complex with a molar ratio of 2∶1,which has a maximum absorption at 493nm.The molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.21×105L·mol-1·cm-1.Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0~10mg/L Cd(Ⅱ).The method has been applied to determine cadmium trace in waste water with satisfactory results.
