Abstract
The synthesis of styrene-acrylic emulsion by soap-free emulsion polymerization was researched in this paper.Functional monomers, such as diacetone acrylamide(DAAM),acrylamide(AM),and reactive emulsifier formulated by non-ionic reactive surfactant KL-100 and anionic reactive emulsifier COPS-1,were added in the emulsion system. The optimum conditions for emulsion polymerization were obtained: the ratio of hard and soft monomers is 1,reaction temperature 75~80℃,emulsifier dosage 4wt%,and functional monomers dosage 2wt%.Both water resistance and gloss of the paper surface sized by the emulsion were very high.
