A Study on Bian Zhilin's Early Poems

Abstract

The unification of wonderful art and deep thought is Bian Zhi-lin's major contribution to Chinese modern poetry and it is one of the important reasons why he is called the outstanding poet in modern China. Looking through his writing in the 1930s,one can find the meditation is the lasting theme of his poems. The meditation is expressed by two forms: on life style and attitude of oneself and on one' s own experience. The paper concludes that the salient artistic feature of his poems during this period is the result from his life experience and meditation.
