Abstract
Objective To compare gold immunochromatography assay(GICA)with enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)in detecting HBsAg.Methods GICA and ELISA were used to detect HBsAg in serum from 4 086 individuals aged from 18 to 65 years. Results A total of 327 samples(8.0%)were HBsAg positive when detected by GICA,while 391 cases(9.6%)showed positive when detected by ELISA;the positive coincidence rate was 98.43%.Conclusion Although GICA is simpler and faster than ELISA,and has a good specificity, its sensibility is still dissatisfactory.By comparison,ELISA is more suitable for serum HBsAg detection in hospitals and blood centres.
