Abstract

Complex liberalism emphases that we should beware of the concentration of two types of powers. One is the concentration of public power, which will lead to the harm from political power;the other is concentration of private power, which will give rise to the hegemony of monetary power. Therefore, complex liberalism tries to find the balance between market and government in order to overcome two failures-market failure and government failure-by taking advantage of their complementary. However, two popular extreme thoughts prevail in current society, that is,market liberalism and state interventionism.Among these, modern mainstream economics upholds privatization and marketization under the ideology of neo-liberalism,and equates liberalism with spontaneous order. As a result, modern mainstream economics not only simplifies liberalism, but also ignores the problems in the real market, let along perfecting and improving the real market.
