Analysis of the Weak Government Theory of Modern Western Liberalism

Abstract

NewLiberalism and Neo-liberalism are two anamorphosises of traditional liberalism. Neo-liberalism argues that market economy can be self-government by the rule of spontaneity order;there is intern antinomy in state action, government may be malfunction sometimes, thus the functions of governmental intervenes should be limited, and weak government is always the best choice. Neo-liberalism opposes strong government theory of new liberalism, and demonstrates particularly for the reason of the need of negative state conception through the experience epistemology, negative liberty conception and mainstream democracy conception. NewLiberalism, Communitarian and NewLeft criticize fierily the weak government theory of Neo-liberalism.
