A preliminary study of social mobility in the Ming Dynasty

This article focuses on the controls of the census register from the government and the disintegration of the population and the social estate system,and the appearance of the nonnative and transient population(keji,fuji)and concludes with an analysis of social mobility in late Ming China.The author think that there was a social mobility trend in the society.The form of social mobility included the population mobility between the different region and the mobility between the social stratum,and social mobility of upward and downward.There was becoming a social change in late Ming Dynasty.
