Abstract
Analyzing the exceptional leaking parts of diesel engine lubrication system, the mathematic model of lubricant oil consumption for a heavy duty diesel engine was built. The model was able to estimate the lubricant oil consumption in real time and to monitor the surface of lubricant oil in the oil box, which realized the detection of lubricant oil leakage. The main condition monitoring parameters for leakage detection were in-cylinder pressure and cylinder wall temperature and the operating parameter was the temperature of lubricant oil.By measuring and analyzing lubricant oil consumption in four different conditions, it was found that the lubricant oil consumption increased with the increase of speed and load. The results show that the theoretically calculated oil consumption coincides with the actually measured oil consumption.
