Abstract
Samples were taken from the top-layer of sediment of Taizi River in Liaoning Province in order to measure and evaluate the pollution of heavy metals such as Cu,Pb,Cd and Zn in the river sediment. The geo-accumulation and potential ecological risk indices were employed in the evaluations relating to pollution levels and eco-risk.Results indicated that pollution level in so far as the above-mentioned four metals in descending order was CdZn≥CuPb;and potential eco-risk intensity in descending order was CdCu≈ZnPb.Consequently, cadmium was the primary among the heavy metals polluting Taizi River.
