Abstract
In order to investigate the heavy metals concentrations and their potential ecological risks of the sediments in Si River,7 sediments samples are sampled from both the trunks tream and tributaries for analyzing Hg,As,Cd,Pb,Cr,Ni,Cu,Zn and Mn.The Index of Geoaccumulation and the Potential Ecological Risk Index are employed to evaluate the pollution degree of heavy metals in the surface sediments. The results indicate that Hg and Cd are the predominant pollution elements. The descending order of pollution degree of various heavy metals is: HgCdMnZnNi≈Pb≈CuCrAs;the potential ecological risk intensity caused by different heavy metal is: HgCdAsPb≈CuCr≈Zn.
