An Exploration of Rural Modernization by the Media in the Republic of China:On Literature of Independent Review in the 1930s

Independent Review,an influential political journal in the Republic of China,contributed a lot to the discussion and design of the project about the rural construction in China in 1930s.It put forward some distinct views for the Chinese rural modernization such as industry leading agriculture,city supporting the rural,developing industry and commerce and rural population control,which clearly express the intellectuals' great concern for the prospect of Chinese countryside.Moreover,the views enrich and develop the rural construction theory in the Republic of China,and therefore provide some inspiration and useful reference for the contemporary rural construction.
