Abstract

Traditional Chinese Painting has followed two major courses in its tortuous development process, one of which is the school of reforming traditional Chinese painting and integrating both the east and the west and the other the school of carrying forward the fine traditions of traditional Chinese painting or sticking to our tradi-tions.The former hold that traditional Chinese painting could be reformed with the aid of western realism and modernism;the latter argue that traditional Chinese painting should undergo self-transformation while holding on to our fine traditions and have innovation while inheriting the past.
