Abstract
Objective To assess the value of thin liquid-based cytology tes(tTCT)in screening cervical lesions. Methods A retrospective analysis was carried out in 1508 cases of women who were checked by using the TCT from June 2007 to Sept. 2008 in our hospital, and 148 cases of abnormal results were undergone colposcopy and positioning biopsy for histopathological examination. The results of TCT were compared with histology results to calculate the positive predictive value of TCT. Results In 103 cases of atypical squamous cells of undetermined signification (ASCUS),colposcopy biopsy pathology showed 79 cases of chronic cervicitis,19 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)Ⅰ,3 cases of CIN Ⅱ,2 cases of CIN Ⅲ and no cervical cancer. In 24 cases of low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion(LSIL),there were 7 cases of chronic cervicitis,9 cases of CIN Ⅰ,5 cases of CIN Ⅱ,2 cases of CIN Ⅲ and one case of cervical squamous cell carcinoma, with the positive predictive value of LSIL of 70.8%. In 19 cases of high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion,(HSIL),there were 4 cases of CIN Ⅰ,8 cases of CIN Ⅱ,6 cases of CIN Ⅲ,one case of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and no chronic cervicitis, with the positive predictive value of HSIL of 100%. TCT results showed 2 cases of squamous cell carcinoma which were all confirmed pathologically. Conclusion There is a high sensitivity in screening cervical intraepithelial neoplasia by using. TCT together with colposcopy and biopsy examination is helpful to the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions.
