Clinical effect of porcelain veneer in treating discolored teeth

Abstract

AIM:To observe the clinical effect of porcelain veneer in treating discolored teeth. METHODS:116 and 106 discolored teeth were treated with porcelain veneer and composite veneer respectively, and compare their effects to each other. Clinical effect of color、appearance、function、sensation were checked after two years. RESULTS: The effet of porcelain veneer restoration is best in 84 cases(72.4%), better in 32 cases (27.60%). The effect of composite veneer restoration is best in 66 cases(62.26%), better in 25 cases(23.58%), failure in 15 cases(14.15%). CONCLUSION: The clinical effect of discolored teeth treated with porcelain veneer is better than that with composite veneer. But the long-term effect of porcelain veneer needs further research. [
