One-dimensional Nonlinear Consolidation Analysis on Over-consolidation Clay under the Stepped Time-dependent Loading

Abstract

Using the nonlinear empirical models for relationship between the void ratio and both consolidation-pressure and coefficient of permeability,taking into account the effect of stress history of natural saturated clay and stepped time-dependent construction loading,the corresponding governing equations for one-dimensional nonlinear consolidation of over-consolidation saturated clay are proposed.The equations are dispersed using the finite difference method to facilitate solving them.The relevant computer program is developed to solve the equations.The results of one-dimensional nonlinear consolidation and linear consolidation of saturated over-consolidation clay are compared and analyzed.
