Abstract

There is a lot of recordation about the scholars failing in imperial examinations in Tang Dynasty's novels in classical Chinese.Analyzing the cultural mentality of these scholars can help us understand them and the novels of Tang Dynasty better.The thesis elaborates the scholars' cultural mentality in some aspects:the hardships of life and donkeywork,the abreaction of chill and not being appreciated,the transfer of purchasing the Confucian thought and being remote from life.
