A Study of the Negative Word "Fei" in Zuo Zhuan

Abstract

This paper,based on the discussion of the grammatical and meaning functions of such negatives as 55in Zuo Zhuan,the historical literary work,is trying to suggest that55in Zuo Zhuan can only be an adverb rather than a linking verb.In addition,the paper briefly discusses other two words 214 and35,and comes to the conclusions that,214and55used to negate the predicate are really identical,and the only difference is the stage where they are used.
