Abstract

During the New Cutlure Movement HU Shi introduced pragmatism into China. Before the May 4th Movement of 1919 it had exerted a positive influence to the New Culture Movement. However, later it hindered the New Cutlure Movement and resisted the development of new democratic revolution. All the above reflected that the influence of a certain of theory is inseparable from specific social and historical conditions.
