Abstract
Ye Shengtao had a profound comprehension to the traditional Chinese education in China. On this basis, Ye viewed that the Chinese education should establish its chief target to train students' skills of applying the language and their habits of keeping these skills throughout their lives. He insisted on the standardization of the Chinese language, as well as Chinese features while it being applied. Ye devoted himself to a series of epoch-making theoretical researches and practical attempts, which were about the establishing of the scientific system of the Chinese textbooks, and about the choosing of a new, democratic Chinese-teaching method, thereby settle the foundation of modern Chinese education through science.
