Abstract
The biological and damage characteristics of Tomicus piniperda have been studied by setting up experimental sites within the Tomicus piniperda damaged stand in Lingjiao Township and Baishui Town of Zhanyi County since 1997. The life history, damage habit and characteristics of the pest were systematically studied, and the life table of natural population was established. Integrated control was implemented on 1 000 ha of damaged stand. The results showed that the average damaged rate of living trees decreased from 61 5 % to 17 8 %, while that of shoots decreased from 34 9 % to 10 4 %.
