Abstract

In the era of knowledge economy, the capability of independent innovation is becoming one of important factors affecting the regional technical efficiency. With Malmquist index, the author has a static and dynamic analysis on the technical efficiency of capital allocation between different regions in the first place, and then with the model of Panel Data, the author examines the effect of independent innovation on the technical efficiency, and finds out the source of technical efficiency growth. The results indicate that the balanced distribution of regional technical efficiency is unbalanced, and that there exists almost no convergence for a long time. The paper also concludes that independent innovation represented by innovation patent conduces to raise the level of regional technical efficiency, but the innovation represented by RD input has no apparent impact on technical efficiency, which shows that the innovation input mechanism has a systematic barrier in our country.
