Abstract

During the transitional period of modern Chinese society, Wang Guowei's theory of literature and art manifested clear modern characteristics, having great value of reference for modern and contemporary literary theories. Due to bias and historical reasons, this treasure of Wang's theory has not been fully exploited. This paper aims at clarifying the modernity of his theory and its influence on later generations from the aspects of enlightenment and aesthetics.
