Abstract
AIM: To campare the therapeutic effects of nabumetone and naproxen in treating rheumatoid arthritis(RA). METHODS: Nabumetone group of 44 patients received 1.0g, qn, for 4 wk,naproxen group of 32 patients received 0.25g, bid, for 4 wk,in double-blind method. The therapeutic courses of 12 patients of the former group and 10 patients of the latter group were prolonged to 0.5a, RESULTS: Total response rate of the former group was 66%, that of the latter group was 47% at 4 wk. At 0. 5a total response rates were 92% and 70%, respectively, but with no significant difference(P0.05). CONCLUSION: The therapeutic effects of both drugs in treating RA were similar, but the adverse reactions of heart burn and edema after nabumetone were less than those after naproxen.
