Abstract

Bamboo charcoal is one of solid products of bamboo, and its microstructure and morphology were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),infrared microscopy(IR),scanning electronic microscopy(SEM) and EDS.The results show that bamboo charcoal was of amorphous carbon structure with some graphite crystals and could keep the original morpha of bamboo, but it showed some collapses. The high special surface area of bamboo charcoal resulted from the mini-pores on the cell wall, and the canal wall showed graphite structure with the shape of layers. The main elements of bamboo charcoal were carbon and oxygen and it also included many mineral elements, such as K,Si etc.All of the above studies are helpful the further research of functional bamboo charcoal.
