Correlation Between the Expression of CD44v6,MMP-9 and VEGF and the Biological Behavior in Gastric Carcinoma

Objective:To investigate the association of the expression of CD44v6,MMP-9 and VEGF(CD44 splice variant v6,matrix metalloproteinase-9 and vascular endothelial growth factor) with the clinicobiologic behavior in gastric carcinoma and the correlation between the 3 factors.Methods: The expression of CD44v6,MMP-9 and VEGF in 80 cases of gastric carcinoma tissue were detected by immunohistochemical streptavidin peroxidase.Results: The expressions of CD44v6,MMP-9 and VEGF were positively related to the clinical stage,the depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis and were synergistic in action with one another(P0.05),but was not related to the degree of histological differentiation and the type of tissue.The probability of lymph node metastasis and deep invasion was higher in the patients with over expression of the 3 factors than in those patients with over expression of 1 or 2 factors or with negative expression of the 3(P0.05).Conclusion: The expressions of CD44v6,MMP-9 and VEGF are correlated to invasion and metastasis of gastric carcinoma,and thus can be as markers to predict metastasis and invasion of gastric carcinoma and the prognosis of these patients as well.
