Abstract

The continuous casting tundish in research was often treated as an isothermal reactor. But the difference of steel temperature between transport ladle and tundish has significant influence on liquid steel flow in tundish bath. The sensitivity of steel flow in tundish to this temperature difference was studied in present work with an introduction of a ratio Zb of buoyancy force to inert force to identify this phenomenon. The steel continuous casting tundish should be treated as a non isothermal reactor when investigating the flow properties and concerned processes.
