Study on the somatotype of Han in rural areas of Shandong

The somatotype of 472 rural adults(272 males and 200 females) of Han in Shouguang county of Shandong province is studied using the Heath-Carter somatotyping method.The results are as follows:(1) The mean somatotype values of the male and female are 3.7-5.6-1.9 and 5.6-5.2-1.3 in rural districts respectively,which represent the endomorphic mesomorph category in male and endomorph-mesomorph category in female.(2) The age of 30 is the cutoff point of somatotype in rural adults,which shows somatotype differences before and after the age of 30.In males and females,the somaotype does not change obviously after the age of 30.(3) The somatotype of rural adults of Han shows most significant differences between gender.(4) The somatotype of rural adults of Han is close to that of Oroqen.
