Thinking Media in Geographical Cognition

Abstract

The characteristics of geographical study are that cognition needs the visual thinking operation.We should take mental imagery as a basis in the thinking.Geographical cognition is the thinking process basis on the characterization of images.Impacted by the traditional concept that language is the media of thinking,geographical cognition still stresses the language expression.So we have to change the strategy of thinking,consider the value and role of images in the geographical cognition,image and construct a psychological schema or model with an appropriate clear structure,and do some perspective or observation.
