Abstract
Objective To retrospectively analyze the clearance of toxins in hepatic failure caused by severehepatitis by hemoperfusion using HA macroporous high molecular absorbent. Methods Forty patients with hepaticfailure caused by severe hepatitis were treated with hemoperfusion using HA macroporous resin HA330-?. Their he-patic and renal functions were monitored, and several serum inflammatory markers were measured before and after thetreatment. Results After the hemoperfusion, clinical symptoms and signs improved to various extents. ALT, total anddirect bilirubin lowered remarkably (P0.01), PTA increased obviously (P0.01), and serum IL-6, and TNF-a de-creased significantly. However, serum electrolytes remained unchanged. Conclusions The toxins in hepatic failurecaused by severe hepatitis can be efficiently cleared by the hemoperfusion using HA resin as the adsorbent. After thehemodialysis, patients’ clinical symptoms and signs improved to various extents.
