Abstract

Organizational innovation and technological innovation are core elements of survival and development for high-tech enterprises.Organizational innovation and technological innovation relies on each other because the former is the foundation of the latter, and the latter is the driving force of the former.High-tech manufacturing industry plays a pivotal role in the industrial innovation and economic growth in China. However,in most high-tech enterprises organizational and technological innovations are often not compatible with each other.Consequently, innovation efficiency and sustainable development are seriously hindered. This study recognizes the issue and tries to quantitatively measure the influence of organizational innovation and technological innovation on the improvement of resource utilization and core competitiveness for high-tech enterprises. The first part of this study summarizes literatures on organizational innovation and technological innovation adaptation. Our literature review suggests that organizational knowledge and organizational culture have important influence on organizational and technological innovations. The second part defines four measures of organizational innovation: organizational strategy innovation, organizational structure innovation, organizational processes innovation and organizational regulation innovation and two measures of technological innovation: product innovation and process innovation. We conduct a survey and analyze data using the confirmatory factor analysis, and weight methods. The third part measures organizational innovation status and technology innovation status with resource constraints based on the utility theory. This study also analyzes the adaptation parameters and the optimal adaptation status. The fourth part is a case study of a high-tech enterprise. We use this business case to illustrate the status of organizational innovation and technology innovation, and their actual and ideal status. The fifth part summarizes the adaptation status and measures organizational innovation and technology innovation for the studied company. In summary, this study combines survey with the weight method to measure the status of organizational innovation and technology innovation for high-tech enterprises in China.A model is proposed to analyze adaptation parameters,as well as measure the optimal adaptation status, and adaptation status of organizational and technological innovations based on the utility theory. This paper uses the case study method to reveal adaptation mechanisms of organizational innovation and technology innovation in high-tech enterprises.
