Abstract
Using sodium cinnamate and benzyl chloride as raw material, diethylamine as catalyst, benzyl cinnamate is synthesized directly under normal pressure and microwave irradiation. The effects of amount of catalyst, power and time of microwave irradiation on yield are studied. The most suitable reaction conditions were that the molar ratio of sodium cinnamate and benzyl chloride was 1.0∶3.4, the amount of diethylamine was 1.0 mL, and the microwave irradiation time 12 min with the power of 450 W. The yield of benzyl cinnamate was over 85%.
