Clinical Study on Aminolevulinic Acid-photodynamic Therapy in the Topical Treatment of Male Multiple Anorectal Condyloma Acuminatum

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of 5-aminolaevulinic acid-photodynamic therapy(ALA-PDT) in treatment of anorectal condyloma acuminatum.Methods Thirty-five patients with anorectal condyloma acuminatum were topically given 20% ALA solution followed by PDT.The treatment was repeated 7-10 days later if the Lesion was not completely removed.Totally,1-4 treatment sessions were given.Results Complete remission was achieved in 97.1%(34/35) of patients with anorectal condyloma acuminatum treated by ALA-PDT and among the 34 cured patients,3 were treated by 1 cycle of ALA-PDT,5 by 2 cycles,15 by 3 cycles and 11 by 4 cycles.The mucous membrane of anorectum showed no damage.No recurrence was observed in 33 cases after a 3-month follow-up.Conclusion ALA-PDT in the topical treatment of anorectal condyloma acuminatum is safe and effective,and may serve a therapeutic option for anorectal condyloma acuminatum.
