Abstract
The define, characteristics, functions, architecture and key technology of grid are researched. The five levels hourglass model architecture, base functions of grid operation system and secure authentication technology are expounded in detail, as well as an architecture model, a mode of using grid and a resource managing model. The application fields of grid is discussed, and it pointed out that grid will become the new generation of network computing model and a new system of distributed computing and cooperative work environment.
