The Phonological Development of Hekou(合口) in Xie(蟹) System Reflected by Rhyme System in Song Dynasty

Abstract

A thorough study of 14634 poems,1388 Ci(词)by Henan poets in the Song Dynasty,which contains 17690 rhymes shows that Hui(灰) rhyme category and Hekou(合口) of Tai(泰) rhyme belong to Tai-Hui(台灰) category but at the same time some characters rhyme fall into Zhi-Wei(支微) category.In according to the phonological researches of Song Dynasty,we make a comparative study of rhyme system of different provinces.To sum up,the Hekou in Xie rhyme category developed faster than other areas.That shows the standard language in the Song Dynasty is on the basis of the phonetics of Henan area.
