Cultural Comparison and Translation on Chinese-English Numeral Idioms

Abstract

Idioms are a kind of stable language forms in meaning and structure and a concentrated manifestation of various rhetoric means.On the basis of affirming idioms with cultural characters,by analyzing and comparing numbers' value orientation in different cultures,the paper sums up translation skills in English-Chinese numeral idioms and stresses that understanding of the numbers' indicative meanings in idioms is the key to success of translation.
