Abstract

Objective To evaluate the curative effects of EVLT combined with surgery in treating varicose veins of lower limbs. Methods 172 patients with varicose vein of lower limbs with a totel of 198 lower limbs underwent EVLT with concomitant surgery.Three therapeutic entities were included:(1)severe primary valvular incompetence(45 limbs):EVLT+external banding valvuloplasty of superficial femoral vein+SEPS;(2)mild primary ralvular incompetence(55 limbs):EVLT+SEPS;(3)simple saphenous varicosity(98 limbs):EVLT.Results All patients were followed up for 2-44 months(mean 32 months)with satisfactory outcomes, except 5 patients who had recurred varicose veins. And they were successfully treated with EVLT for the second time. Conclusion EVLT in combination with surgery is a new therapeutic entity possessing advantages of minimal invasiveness,safety,easy-manipulation and satisfactory results.
