Abstract
Objective To study the expression and its significance of CD44v6 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients. Methods By immunohistochemistry, monoclonal antibody of CD44v6 was to used to determine the expression of CD44v6,according to S-P staining method. Results The expression of CD44v6 was significantly higher in carcinoma tissues(23/51) than that of adjacent tissues (7/46).Also,the positive rate of CD44v6 in HCC with metastasis was higher than that without metastasis,80.0%(8/10) and 36.6%(15/41) respectively, being significant different.Whereas the expression of CD44v6 had no correlation with the tumor size, differentiation, portal tumor thrombus and recurrence within 2 years. Conclusion CD44v6 is probably responsible for the occurrence of HCC.The strong expression of CD44v6 in cases with metastasis indicates that CD44v6 plays a key role in metastasis.
