Abstract
Objective The potential roles of all trans retinoic acid (ATRA) in colorectal cancer cell line LoVo in vitro were studied. Methods The proliferation, the cell cycle and the apoptosis of LoVo cells were determined after treated with ATRA.Results ATRA could significantly inhibit proliferation of LoVo and greatly increase ALP of the cells in time dependent manner. In cytometry analysis,LoVo cells lines accumulated in G 1 phase and appeared an extra “sub G 0/G 1 peak” when higher dosage of ATRA was presented.Apoptotic cells only in 10 -5 mol ATRA were found by electronic microscopy. Conclusion ATRA could both induce differentiation and apoptosis of LoVo cells. This observation may become an indicator for clinical trials on prevention of colorectal cancer.$$$$
