On the Cultural Connotations of Songs and Dances of Malimasa at Weixi in Diqing

Songs and dances are a typical form in the cultural reconstruction of Malimasa. Based on an analysis of their song contents and dance moves, the present study is to reveal their specific cultural connotations and significances in terms of ethnic group history, production process, the spirit of the ethnic group. It is discovered that the songs and dances of Malimasa have their educational values of culture cultivations and emotion regulation as well as important social values of ethnic identity enhancement, ethnic harmony promotion and tourism development, making them the highlight of Malimasa culture.
