Abstract
Objective To compare the effect of mydriasis between cyclopentolate hydrochloride and compound tropicamide in phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implants(IOLs).Methods A total of 120 patients with geriatric cataract were randomly divided into cyclopentolate hydrochloride(group A) and compound tropicamide(group B).Before operation, dropping maydriatric was done three times every 5 minutes. The pupil diameter was observed and recorded before operation and after sodium hyalurona was injected and ultrasonic emulsification was finished. The onset time and effective ultrasonic emulsification time were compared and statistically analyzed. Results About 20 minutes after instillation the two groups, pupils reached maximum diameter. The recession time in the treatment group and the control group were(102±13) min and(89±12) min,and the adjustment ability recovery time of ciliaris were(13.2±2.6) h and(9.6±2.5) h.The difference between two groups was significant. Conclusion Though the adjustment ability recovery of ciliaris of group A was slower than group B,its maintaining time of pupils in operation was longer, and ciliary muscle adjustment could recover within one day.Cyclopentolate hydrochloridecan provides perfect pupil dilation for cataract ultrasonic emulsification.
