Abstract
A pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of water stress at jointing stage and filling stage on yield and WUE of winter wheat with two representative triticum cultivars Shijiazhuang 8 and Yanmai 20 in north China. The results showed that,WUE of the two varieties of winter wheat is sensitive to water stress at both jointing stage and filling stage, what's more, the greater the stress level the greater inhibitory effects on yield and WUE.WUE under mild water stress recovered more rapidly after rewatering, however,WUE under severe water stress recovered more slowly and limited after rewatering.Water stress at jointing stage and filling stage mainly reduced grain number and grain weight separately. The best stress degree at jointing stage and filling stage on yield and WUE was 60% of field capacity, and the best stress duration at jointing stage and filling stage were 5 days and 10 days respectively.
