Abstract

As an adherent scholar of Ming Dynasty, influenced by his father, teachers and friends in early days,Wang Yuan advocated loyalty and filial piety, respected Yang-ming idealistic, criticized neo-Confucianism.After acquainting with Li Gong and Yan Yuan,he finally threw off the chains of neo-Confucianism and explored the ways of running country from system culture. But he failed in the application of his learning and became impoverished in his life. His academic thoughts reflected the tendency that academics at the beginning of Qing Dynasty overstepped neo-Confucianism and his fate reflected the dilemma that Yan-Li School served no purpose of academic reconstruction in early Qing Dynasty.
