Abstract
The antioxidant defense system which eliminates unnecessary active oxygen is important for protecting the organism from oxidation damage. The major antioxidases include superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase. This review has addressed the category, distribution, structure and expression of antioxidase genes.
