Abstract

Objective To evaluate the relation between carotid and femoral atherosclerosis and coronary artery diseases (CAD) with ultrasonography. Methods Thirty-five CAD patients and 26 normal controls according to coronary angiography were examined with high frequency ultrasound. The intimia-media thickness(IMT)and plaques were measured. Results The IMT of carotid and femoral arteries in CAD patients was significantly increased in comparison to that in normal group. The dectation rate of arterial plaques was significantly high in CAD patients compared to that in normal group. The severity of arterial diseases corrected well with the extent of CAD. Conclution Carotid and femoral atherosclerosis are risk factors of CAD and have great values in predicting CAD.
