The Origin and Development of Special Categorized Plants Gardens in China

The characteristics of special categorized plants gardens were summarized and their origin and development history in China were reviewed.Special categorized plants garden,as a combination and exhibition of plant collection and classification,horticulture,and landscaping arts,is highly valuable both in ornamental aspect and in scientific popularization and research,and it exhibits Chinese traditional flower culture.Special categorized plants gardens originated in Chang'an during Qin and Han Dynasties,developed in Three Kingdoms Period,Jin Dynasty,and South and North Dynasty,and came to be a perfect landscaping form in Tang and Song Dynasties.Since then,it had been important in Chinese landscape history.With the development of botanic garden,the special categorized plants gardens have been much more poplar than any historic period.
