Abstract

The second order derivative spectrophotometric method was established for the determination of thymol in cream. The amplitude D between 238 nm and 254 nm was linear with concentration of thymol within the range of 2.8~22.1 μg/ml.The average recovery of thymol was 99.29%, RSD was 0.35%.Its regression equation is D =7.9249 C + 0.001964 ( r =0.9999).The method is simple and accurate.
