Abstract

The scholars of the Ming dynasty had a combined approach to studying the poems of the Tang, the Song and the Yuan dynasty, that is, a comparative study of the poems of the three dynasties within one cognitive frame while taking each dynasty as an independent unit, which was important for them to select their approaches to poetic studies and establish their school of poetry. This approach found expression in the following three stages: a comparison of the Song poetry and the Yuan poetry, negative criticism of the Song poetry and the Yuan poetry, positive criticism of the Song poetry and the Yuan poetry.
