The Oppugnation about Legitimacy of Song Tai-zong's Enthronement

Shi Wenying,a monk in Song dynasty noted down Song Taizong's enthronement in his Record of Mount Xiang,out of which the mystery of the echo of axes and the shadow of candles were derived.When it came to Nan Song dynasty,Li Ta cited it in his masterpiece The Continued History Retold as a Mirror for Rulers,hence the advent of the hanging mystery came into being along with quite a few mysterious issues.Firstly,was Song Taizu killed by Song Taizong? Secondly,was Song Taizong's enthronement legitimate? The official historical documents intentionally concealed the fact.In this paper,the author investigates the above issues from the perspective historical records on the basis of ancient documents.The paper concluded that Song-Tai-Zong' enthronement was illegal.
