Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture in treating gastroparesis after subtotal gastrectomy.Method Thirty-six patients with gastroparesis after subtotal gastrectomy were divided into a treatment group of 24 cases and a control group of 12 cases. The control group was intervened by conventional Western medication, and the treatment group was intervened by electroacupuncture in addition to the conventional Western medication. After 14-day treatment, the change of gastric juice volume after treatment and the recovery rate of the two groups were observed.Result The recovery rate was 87.5% in the treatment group versus 50.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).In comparing the gastric juice volume after treatment, the result in the treatment group was significantly different from that in the control group(P0.01).Conclusion Electroacupuncture is an effective approach in treating gastroparesis after subtotal gastrectomy.
